SECI Model by Nonaka Takeuchi

According to Professor Ikujiro Nonaka, knowledge creation is a spiraling process of interactions between explicit and tacit knowledge. The interactions between the explicit and tacit knowledge lead to the creation of new knowledge. The combination of the two categories makes it possible to conceptualize four conversion patterns.
Nonaka also suggests different 'Ba's which facilitate the knowledge conversion for his SECI Knowledge creation model.
The four conversion patterns of knowledge are illustrated in diagram below:

Organizing ideas for Literature Review
In doing my literature review, I would first list down what are the items I want to include.
- Information about CoP - What is Cop. Why do we need Cop. How does it work/benefit teachers.
- Information on Professional development and personal development. Why it is important for teachers to keep on improving and acquiring knowledge.
- Information on common best practices in teaching and learning English language, thinking skills and literature component or in moving the students to a higher order thinking skills.
- Information on knowledge construction. How teachers are able to facilitate knowledge. Include SECI model by Nonaka Takeuchi on implicit and explicit knowledge.
In the problem statement, include:
- Theory of change / adoption - find out where are we now? Why most teachers in Malaysia are still at the entry level where technology is concerned.
- Why CoP is a need for teachers?
- Why teachers need to facilitate knowledge construction.
- Why teachers need to share their best practices.
Conceptual framework
Now, what are my inputs? Prof said platform is not the input. Then, what is? Referring to my note taken during the earlier lecture by Prof, input includes resources, infrastructure and administration.
Input --> Resources --> Who are the experts involved?
--> What are the materials used?
--> Infrastructure --> how I construct the platform for CoP?
--> Administration --> how do I go about inviting people to join CoP?
how do I manage the platform?
Process --> identifying needs and gaps
--> Designing and developing content, technology and blending in with the pedagogy
--> Implementation of ideas
--> Evaluating outcomes
--> Disseminating results
Output --> What do I expect the end result be?
Teachers are able to:
1. share their best practices
2. facilitate knowledge construction
3. identify challenges they face in teaching and learning
4. share their perception on using the online forum
